Betty
we used to have a lady that was on the staff of our local paper. every
year about this time she would wait for the old timers to send her these
folk lorn, and she would print these in her colum in the paper. I
always looked forward to the time when she started.
a bumper crop of acorns ment a sever winter
fat brown wooley worms - sever winter
the bark on a tree growing thicker on the north side
ever how many foggy days in august, that how many snows for winter
a squirel building his/her nest high in the tree
and the list goes on, just can't remember any more right now, but I
always enjoyed reading her collum,
one year we had acorns that had acorns, I'll bet there were a zillion
of them. my husband and I even picked them up and saved some, in case
the squirrels were hungry. we had a very mild winter
soooooooo you be the judge.
