Re: Japanese Painted Fern
Hello Nancy,
I can not find the sheet with descriptions and prices I obtained from a
nursery that sells only ferns up in Ohio, but I have 3 forms of JPF that I
purchased from him. One dwarf, a giant form and a third variation. There is also
the "standard" form of the fern and now the Ursula's Red. That makes 5 named forms
and the ones that spring up from spores. Think it was Cindy who mentioned
'Bradfords Beauty'. I know that there are more named forms ... one simply has to
keep an eye on the ferns section of the catalogs.
'Ursula's Red has broad fronds... each individual leaf is silver at the tips
and fades into burgundy as it reaches the stipe... stipe itself is deep wine-red.
Nice contrast in colors.
