Bobbi,
I'm in zone 5a, north central Ohio, and there are rhodies all over town.
There are so many around here that they're almost a landscape staple.
They do just fine around here. Some are quite huge. I have four, don't
know what kind though, since they were put in by a landscaper four years
ago (which was before I started gardening) and they are doing just fine.
If they do great in my zone 5a, I don't see why you would have a problem
in your zone 5/6.
