Hello Kay,
    Bit like having a mature stand of Hosta.... suppose you can (and many people
do) divide them, spread them around. Now you have several starts in different
locations. Just take a while for them to come back up to nice display size. No
harm done, just reduced the size of the display.
    I do not know if it is my laziness or what, but I seldom bother anything in
the garden once it reaches mature size. That is why I purchased the plants... to
have mature plants in show. People remark about my old varieties of hosta...
nothing special... just left them alone after they reached full maturity.
