Apologies for ANOTHER slightly off-topic post. There is a collection of
about a dozen rose bushes at the new house, only a couple of which we've
identified. All to one extent or another are afflicted with blackspot;
several are completely defoliated with only green stems (ugh!).
All except ONE! I just cut a bouquet from it today. The bush had 8
flowers, all with a sort of loose, semidouble appearance, kind of old
fashioned. Fls are red, with a bluish tinge, but not that dark bluish red
of florists' roses. The foliage is abundant, dark green, glossy, and
perfect. I'm wondering if this is a floribunda rather than a hybrid tea.
BTW, it does grow on the north side of the house, in shade.
My question--can anyone make a good guess as to what this rose's name is?
Also, are there other roses for zones 5-6 that are equally resistant to
blackspot (other than rugosas)? I am really impressed with this rose!
