Re: sourwood/ companions for sumac


Hello Betty,
    I think I am going to go for as much color as I can from the sumac. Place it
on the western edge of my garden where it will get the most light in the afternoon
and setting sun. There is already a Arkansas bluejean flower (Amsonia) there.They
would make great companions, I think. Fine, thread-leaf gold of the amsonia with
the broad, brilliant red, foliage of the sumac. On the back side from the sun
would be fall-blooming anemones, monkshood in good azure blues....
    Soils is fairly decent, so will place deep lawn edging into the soil when
transplanting mine to keep the spread tight and from wandering around in the
garden.
    Sounds like a winner to me....
