Hello Jennifer!
I grow hydrangeas here in zone 9 and they look nice in my landscape. The
only time they look shabby is in late winter, as do most of my plants. They
are planted in my Roadside garden in high shade.
In late winter, I pruned Hydrangeas and left one unpruned.
The one that was not pruned bloomed whereas the ones I pruned just bushed
out beautifully and didn't bloom.
I am not pruning my hydrangeas this year!
