Hi. I just transplanted some viburnum suckers I "liberated" from a
construction site. I first thought the plants were maple-leaved viburnum
(V. acerifolium) and now believe, based on a plant identification book, that
they are highbush viburnum (V. trilobum). I went after them because
acerifolium is highly shade tolerant; I'm wondering how shade-tolerant
trilobum is. (It has such wonderful red berries right now, and is also--my
book says--hardy to zone 2.) Also, who would sell these native viburnums? I
keep looking in various woody plant catalogues but only see the showier ones
for sale.
Thanks,
Nancy S. (in NYC, zone 6B)
