I was noticing in the store tonight that one of the "healthy" new bottled
drinks by Sobe claims to contain epimedium. My herb books don't say
anything about the health benefits of ingesting epimedium; can anyone shed
any light on what part of the plant is used and what it is used for?
Also, I bought a plant of Ruellia (wild petunia) from Gene Bush two
springs ago. From that one plant, dozens more have appeared. It now has
spread into a neat green bathmat size area of rosettes that touch. Several
other plants seem to be growing up through it without appearing unhappy,
but it struck me that this would make a good on-purpose groundcover. It is
certainly vigorous, and the foliage seems to look good all season. Nothing
bothers it and it has cute little purply-blue flowers for a long time,
though I think they are petering out now. Has anyone actually used Ruellia
for a ground cover?
