Eupatorium - sun or shade?

Yesterday at our local nursery I found Eupatorium offered for sale, with a
label (commercial) that said it was for use in shade to part shade. The
picture (no info as to species or cv) showed a pinkish flower. It did not
look like chocolate Eupatorium.

 I've always assumed Eupatorium was a full sun plant.
