Re: How to ship plant bare root??
I got this idea from someone in an aroid group who does a lot of
shipping. He uses what he called polyester fleece (if I remember
correctly). I wrote to him asking if what he meant was quilt
batting, and he agreed. So I took quilt batting and various sizes of
ziplock bags when I went to Europe, because I planned to buy lots of
plants. After I soaked the dirt off, and swished them in several
changes of water, I wrapped the roots in a piece of batting and put
the plant in a plastic bag just large enough for the roots, with the
leaves uncovered. It worked really well - the roots neither dried
out nor rotted, and the leaves didn't rot either.
