Hello All,
Looks as though my timing was just right. I completed one section of a bed
I have been working on this fall last evening and this morning there is a
light misting rain. That should please all the newcomers to the garden.
Imagine, if you will, a raised bed located along a path. There is a curve
at reach end of the bed both in the paths and the rest of the beds, but I
am only completing this one section. The bed is about 12 feet wide and
around 20 feet long.
I placed a Blue Mist Shrub (Caryopteris) just left of and to the upper
center left of the bed. Lower left hand corner begins with a dwarf Balloon
Flower in sky blue. Next comes a row of five dwarf Asters along the path.
On the fourth Aster I went back into the bed and behind the others, forming
a triangle with the last two. Swinging around the right hand end of the bed
with the Asters I then go to the outside of the bed with three Goldenrods
in a triangle meeting the last three Asters. Completing the circle in the
upper left of the bed are two more Asters in a lavender -blue with yellow
eye.
Sure do like the looks of the Blue Mist Shrub. Now I am trying to figure
out how to find a spot for another one in the garden. Bees and butterflies
love this thing. Also it just happens to be one lovely small shrub blooming
at a at time of the year when so many complimentary flowers are doing
their thing.
