I think it's unfair that you live in Canada and I live in the states and it
gets a lot colder here,F -30 or more each winter.
Ahh oh well, that is what it is.

Your plants should be hardy without any problems if you have snow cover, if
no reliable snow cover use a light mulch of fine compost about 1/4 in deep
around the plants and cover with evergreen branches.
Your plants should be semi-evergreen and stay green until spring growth
starts again next year.
In the spring be careful in cleaning up around your seedlings because this
group of plants are not know for their "good" roots, so hand clean around
them and do not use a rake. Many times the small plants will lift right up
out of the ground, If this happens than replant the crowns 1/5 in deep and
they will grow new roots.

I cannot give you a definitive answer about keeping them inside, most
temperate plants do not make good house plants. The one year I brought in a
number of Tiarella into the house they did very well until December, then
they wilted and I could pull the crown right out of the pot with a feather.
The roots and crown had been eaten away by a grub of some kind.

I love the Tiarella and there are some great new Heucherella coming on the
market.
