Siberians in bloom

I have been waiting for bloom reports to start pouring in since my Siberians are probably close to peak bloom right now. Part of the expectation was created by the various bloom reports on the LA iris list. Those reports started a month ago. As I was weeding the Siberians during lunch time, I just realized that I am the one on the heat end of the Siberian climatic spectrum so I should be one of the earliest ones to report bloom.

I moved or planted every Siberian last fall. Some that bloomed in the previous bed don't appear that they are going to this year. Coronation Anthem is the best performer with Shaker's Prayer, Butter and Sugar, and Frosty Rim just slightly behind. Over is Gloryland is also blooming well. I will take a couple of photos to post on iris-photos in a couple of days.

I am finding very good acceptance of the potted Siberians with my customers. I should sell out of all that I have in pots. I had the pots in an isolated place under an oak tree. When I finished sorting the TB pots back into the frames, I had enough room for the Siberians so I moved them to the frame so that all customers will see them. The ones in pots have done very well over the winter. Many of the pots have bloomed. Cheery Lyn, Caesar's Brother and Grand Junction especially. I grew up in Grand Junction, Colorado so I added that one to my garden for sentimental reasons. Butter and Sugar were kind of behind the others in starting growth but they are doing fine now.
