The snow is just about gone in the field.  Siberians are just beginning to 
poke their noses out of the ground.  It's amazing how differently the clumps 
of seedlings grow from one to another.  We have one that is eight inches in 
diameter while its sibs are no more than four inches.  

Soon we will be putting a low count 5-3-4 organic fertilizer on all of the 
rows followed by a small amount of alfalfa meal and that will be it for the 
spring and summer except for a two inch layer of leaf mulch.  The new 
seedlings will get more fertilizer during the summer in hopes of getting them 
to bloom size by next year.  We tend to underfeed our plants I think.  So
