Al,
Look up the Franingham garden on a search and get a map or explicit
directions. The is the damnedest place to find if you are not familiar with
the area. Check their sale dates, they have a big sale of plants inthe
spring.
Tower Hill Botanic in Worcester, Mass has a very large sale of plants on June
01. It is all the different societies, small growers and the Botanic
overage. This is a good one if you are around that area in June 01.
While at Joe Pye Pye Weed, you are very close to the Blanchette Gardens in
Carlisle. This the best, bar none, nursery in the area. I am in Boston
often and drive home through Carlisle to stop there. I t is family operated
and does mail order only in Astilbe. They say they have every Astilbe in the
country but they also have many rare and unusual plants.
A third place in Carlisle is Seaweight Gardens, a large mail order nursery,
selling only daylilies and hosta. Nice people, huge selctions but very
limited in what is sold.
In Colrain Mass. is Andrew Wheeler who pots orders and keeps them for people
driving through. These are nice people to deal with with. They are west of
the others but are Siberian growers.
Good trip,
Claire Peplowski
