Re: EARLY Seedling bloom


Hi Dennis and robins,
 We had first bloom on Iris cristata alba yesterday and several SDB's in
bloom also. The SI's are slow and suffering from the move last summer, and
subsequent drought. I did, however see Caesars Brother blooming in a warm
spot in town, where it seems to be a zone warmer. Can't wait for mine...
 I have collected two different populations of cristata from the mountain on
our property. Both were growing in deciduous hardwood forest above a small
river in rocky, acidic soil on a very severe slope.PH is near 4.0 One has
tinier foliage, the other a purple tinge to the foliage. Wish I could see
native SI's in the wild. Jim
