Sib article in Horticulture

Greetings everyone, and kudos to Jan Sacks and Marty Schafer

I just got my mail and was DELIGHTED to see a siberian iris on the cover
of the June 2003 issue of Horticulture magazine. The iris is 'Turn A
Phrase' by Jan Sacks and Marty Schafer. And then, beginning on page 42,
there is a great article (by Tom Fischer), about Jan & Marty's
hybridizing at Joe Pye Weed's Garden, with lots more photos of wonderful
siberians, several of which have become favorites in my own garden.
Then there are those that I don't yet have, and must get. Anyway, I
saw the cover, read the article, and had to write and congratulate Jan
and Marty and also applaud Horticulture for featuring siberian irises.
If you don't get this magazine, it sure would be worth going to your
local newstand or bookstore and buying a copy. Its a keeper for
siberian enthusiasts. It always amazes me though, when the June issue
of a magazine comes out in early April; but in this case, it does whet
the appetite for even more siberians, allowing time to actually do
something about it before June.

Gary White,
Lincoln Nebraska, where our own siberians are just starting to grow,
after a few days of cold weather and rain and snow over the weekend. It
was only 15 F here this morning but is now up to 62 degrees at 3 in the
afternoon.
