There was a mention last week on the iris-talk list
about hosta and iris. The gist was that hosta couldn't
(or shouldn't) be grown in the same conditions (read
sunny) that most irises prefer.
The memory of the sun tolerant hosta thread sprang
into action so I sent the following to the iris-talk
and decided to send it along to our list. This list
was principally compiled by Bill Dougherty (Minnesota)
and Edmundas Kondratas (Lithuania). Judy Hollingworth
was the editor of TSI at the time and shared it with
the SSI membership.
From this post on the iris-talk, several e-mails were
posted mainly from the hot and humid southern US. Some
have had success with various of these hosta.I
received
a private e-mail from Mississippi extolling the
growing power of Honeybells in hot, sunny weather.
(He spelled it Honey Bells so I am not sure of the
correct spelling)

This is the list of 26 sun-tolerant hostas compiled by
members of the Sibrob in the summer of '97. The thread
was companion plants for iris. This list was also
published in 'The Siberian Iris', fall '97 issue:
