siberians in water and pH


I understand Dennis' point and the water here tends to be acid so that's 
not an issue, though where it sheets across a large yard and down a 
swale before going through a bed of Japanese it can have a higher pH if 
one is unlucky enough to have that happen shortly after liming the 
yard....sigh.

Also, there's been an intermittant thread about leaving Japanese iris in 
the same place both in the Soc. for JI Bulletin and on the email list.  
Some of us don't have the problem of Japanese dying if left in place.  I 
had magnificent show this year from Japanese irises, some of which have 
been in the same places, not under water ever, for more than 15 years.
