Thanks for the information, Chuck.  I too have wondered about the outcome of crossing two whites to get only blue-violet in the offspring. I also remember crossing a light "purple" seedling with a white and getting yellows in the offspring - really threw me for a loop since I was used to the color genetics of lilies.
 I still don't understand the genetics of color in siberian irises.
