Diploid siberians may have very upright foliage.  In fact there are about 3 
types of leaves, fountain which tip out and then there are some varieties 
with very floppy leaves and that is definitely considered a fault.  Bluer 
leaves (or glaucous) are not only on darker irises--in fact that is what 
makes Esther C.D.M. so distinctive is its beautiful upright glaucous foliage. 
 It can almost be identified in a garden when not in bloom because of this 
trait.  Yes, it does pass this trait onto its children.  Anna Mae Miller,
