Lets try a couple hypothesis and see if they float and then this Spring (
or in the next couple) see if we can observe or experimentally validate any
of them.

I'll kick off a different way of thinking around the question. 

Through one of two methods, mutation, or by recombination we have "put to
voice" a recessive previously "silenced" genetic factor we call "rebloom".
(We can define what we mean by "rebloom" also).

Some hybrids do have this factor more than others. Lets take Coronation
Anthem as an example of one which does have this factor. Growing side by
side,  Plant CA1 reblooms and Plant CA2 does not. If we state that the
natural condition of CA is to rebloom, what condition was not met in CA2
and met in CA1. Macroclimatically both plants experienced the same
conditions? Microclimatically did the plants experience the same
conditions? Did they both receive the same cultural requirements? Same age?
etc.
