Hi Anna Mae, every year brings a different kind of extreme.  This is the 
longest I remember the ground being frozen and covered with ice and snow.  I 
hope the plants will respond better to this than they do to prolonged heat 
and drought.  As for TBs or any other plant for that matter, if one dies, 
that just makes room for another plant.  We have plenty of little volunteer 
gems like columbines, primroses and pulsatillas that just want a little space 
to grow in and don't complain about conditions to take their places.  
Siberians are pretty good that way too.  With all of the plants we have been 
introducing there is a backup waiting for space in the gardens.  A friend 
suggested that if we wanted to get HCs or HMs for our plants we should plant 
them all in one spot so that judges could do some one-stop evaluating and 
voting.  Not exactly our gardening style.
