rocks and siberians


Actually adding the rocks back into the hole is not such a bad idea.  I
find that Japanese iris do well in a very dry bed as long as they're
planted next to boulders which I assume cool the soil and retain
moisture under them -- when the wood chucks haven't excavated an
apartment complex..  Perhaps the same thing is happening with the added
rocks, assuming they're not just little pebbles.
