Re: Sib seedling Pic Test

Hi Gary -- I ws just was going through older e-mails and found your question about the choice of parents for hybridizing. I would be happy to share thoughts with you for whatever they may be worth, but to begin with it is important to have an objective (or at least a set of preferences) for what you would like to see as a result. Diploid? Tetraploid? (The Tets are much tougher to hybridize -- fewer crosses take and fewer seed germinate). Colors? Forms? Patterns? After that decision is made, the choice of parents follows fairly logically. Or you can just cross several superior modern irises with different backgrounds and sae what shows up -- almost always something a bit unexpected will appear -- and then you can focus on developing that as "your" contribution. Any ideas? Bob

Hope this works . This is a seedling that I saved for further evaluation . I was impressed by the size of the bloom .
