I think of the word orchid in describing the color of a siberian is used for
the lavender which we all wish was pink, but isn't. Many hybridizers are
working on "pink" siberians and though various people are getting closer and
closer, we are still a ways from true pink. These siberians are often
referred to as pink, and compared with all those that have gone before, they
are, but they are still on the lavender or purple side of pink and hence the
nicer word "orchid".
