name changes

From: "Harold Peters" <harold@directcon.net>

Mike asked a very valid question about my authority/audacity/wisdom of
changing a registered name. My first inclination was very strong to go with
the R&I version. First, I use the R&Is frequently and have set my own system
to keep both registration and introduction dates so I can go straight to the
book that contains the information I am looking for at the time. Second, I
am still unhappy with Julius for shipping me Siberian rhizomes in the middle
of August. I wasn't expecting them then and we had 4 weeks straight weeks of
100s or high 90s from then to mid Sept. I lost a number of plants. Cause and
effect? I can't prove anything but I am still unhappy. I was trying to find
the R&I references to Uber Den Volken and that is why I asked Sibrob if
anyone had that information.

After receiving all the information and a very interesting history, I
decided to leave the name as I had purchased it rather than assuming that
what I have is Ueber den Wolken. I will discuss it with Keith and get his
information. I almost hope it doesn't survive so the issue will be moot.

I have changed the name of a 1999 introduction. The name was accidentally
misspelled. Not deliberately misspelled as some hybridizers do. I received a
handwritten advertisement with a number of mistakes. When is set the copy
and spell check flagged the spelling, I assumed that this was a simple
spelling mistake in writing the ad copy. I did inform the hybridizer of the
spelling mistake. It turns out that Keith had accepted the misspelling in
the registration. The hybridizer discussed the misspelling with Keith and
Keith has now corrected his records. Everyone makes mistakes. When we get
the on-line R&Is, these issues will be so much easier to resolve. 80s and
90s may be available by National Convention.
