I would have no problem using this agreed-upon convention
provided that it would be in bold case. *I agree with Bruce
Filardi on not using the large, non-bold caps in The Bulletin.
The eye is surprised which impacts the cognitive function of the
brain (losing train of thought).  The cultivar name is easily
missed when it is not in bold anyway.

I try to use the smaller bold caps which I think don't startle
as much when reading. I don't know why that is. Maybe the bold
case ensures that it doesn't sneak up.
