Pink Sparkle is Sparkle X Rose Quest which is
Pink Sparkle : (Sparkle : (Grandis x Star Steps : (White Swirl x
Sibirica Nana or Sibirica Nana Alba)) X Rose Quest : (((Rich (Jonnye
Rich - not saturated, I think) lavender seedling x Beth Ellen) x (Beth
Ellen x Sparkling Rose')))
Sparkle is a charming garden subject. In our garden Pink Sparkle was
not. I crossed it with Lavender Light and saw a few seedlings. The
sample was not really large enough to make a judgement on its potential
as a breeder, but I did not pursue it.
The SIGNA seed exchange has between 50 and 100 seeds of Snow Prince OP
and so far only six requests for it. You have to be a member of SIGNA
to participate in the exchange or .... The BIS seed exchange probably
has Snow Prince seeds to offer also. And the NZIS seed pool might
also. Good Luck. Marty

Subject: [sibrob] Article in TSI
Hi Folks
I note in a article in the Fall 2005 TSI `Back to the Future with
Siberian Irises' by Calvin Helsley he writes that Ben Hager in the
1970s start a line with Sparkle continued with this line with Pink
Sparkle but to the best of Calvin's Knowledge this line was not
continued. May I ask my learned Siberian friends why this was so? is
the answer that pink sparkle was not fertile I am interested to know
as I grow both varieties and would be interested in using them in my
Hybridising programme.
And has anyone seed from Snow Prince that they would consider selling
Best Regards Terry Johnson
