Wonderful issue of TSI which arrived here in northern New Hampshire on Sat., Jan. 24th.
The first thing I read was Jan Sacks' article on the dreaded bud fly (Neorthacheta dissimilis). These flies drive me to pull out my hair some years. (I you have ever seen my hair, it takes a lot to pull it out. :-)
At last we can use some practical advice that is beneficial to the planet and kills those little monsters. Kudos to Jan! Also, it is not expensive and seems relatively easy...famous last words?
The Review (SJI) arrived today, January 26th. I haven't even opened the envelope yet but I know it is good reading already. Thank you Judy (and Bob) and Rita (and Tom).
We are obsessed with with weather these days so here is my report:
Cheers from really the cold northern White Mountains where the over-night temperatures plummet to between -35 F (-37 C) to - 22 F (-30 C). It has been colder than that this winter and also warmer (rarely). Should warm up in a couple of days so we can get more snow on top of the 3 feet on the ground. The irises do superbly with the snow cover...all classes not just the Siberians.

p.s. I didn't even notice the Spring 2008 on the cover, I was so interested in looking inside!
