Hi All,
Before I dig my hole too deeply, I think it is important
to say that I am not a member of the SSI. Therefore, I deserve no part in
decisions regarding its actions.
Being the SSI's parent society, I don't believe that the
AIS could or should ever be considered its competitor. Theoretically, all that
is good for the AIS should be good for the SSI. This
isn't a case of the American Iris Society asking... say.. "the Iris Society of
America" to divulge all of its knowledge. It is a parent society that could use
the cooperation of one of its sections in a project that could have a global
reach and effect.
This is to be made available to any and all that wish to
see it. Each SIB entry contains a direct link to the SSI home page, which seems
beneficial to a society that, it would seem, some, fear may be undermined by the
AIS wiki's creation.
It is important to address all concerns. If this is
truly believed to be a major factor in the future of the SSI, I would never
suggest it be taken lightly. It is my sincerest hope that all involved will
benefit from the outcome.
With that said, I'm going to to remove myself from this
discussion, because I fear there is an unnecessary rift developing. I have no
interest in enforcing my will upon others.
Terry, I didn't recognize your email address without
your name. To answer a previous question the ICSEM in my e-mail signature is a
link to the Iris Club of Southeast Michigan (the most local of five MI
iris groups I do my best to support).
Anna Mae, I believe the photobucket account in
question is mine.
Bob, you continue to have my full support. I'm going to
contact you directly, in case you don't get this, but I'm ready for the "C"
medians.
