Re: Southern Siberians
To Bob and Karl.
There is a guy in Southern California (name eludes me now) who was trying to
get Siberians to grow there. Some of the list people can probably give you
the name to find out what he learned. The last time I emailed him he was
discouraged with progress.
John Weiler did a heat tolerant PCI developement using a two pronged
approach. First he grew PCIs from seed and hybridized with any survivors.
Second he purchased cultivars and hybidized with the survivors. The approach
worked for him as there are now a number of Valley tolerant PCIs. I got my
first significant batch of named PCIs from him. I am carrying out an
additional study to the second part of his approach. I have a few seedlings
(salvaged from the seedlings growing in the beds when I didn't remove the
pods fast enough).
