Hi,
Of the varieties listed I grow only MESA PEARL and TRIM THE VELVET.
MESA PEARL has a nice tailored flower and I especially like it because it
comes into bloom just as the others are closing down.
However, TRIM THE VELVET was the star of the garden this year, bar
none. I’m not sure why it did better than the others. It gets only a half
day of sun. Maybe the fertilizer lavished on a nearby failing hosta
helped. Maybe a nearby drainpipe and rainy spring helped.
Last year was it's first and it had just 2 blooms - one of which
Magnificat ate. But the plant was obviously a happy camper, and I was
disappointed at first this year when there were only 5 bloomstalks. But
then it continued to grow to 50 inches with big, rich blooms with a
hairline rim. Spectacular!
