Hi Caroline,
Interesting that the "true" species you work with are more
"homozygous" than what I started with...probably someone's
hybrid selection. We got the rain too last night...what a relief!
I have planted one of the black irises this past spring and am
hoping it will bloom next spring. I know its not Siberian, but
I'm a bit ecclectic.

Hi Ross-
You're most welcome and seemed to have sparked some new thoughts as we seem
to be winding down the bloom season. I grow mostly species from seeds and
even there there is some variation, though seldom color if hand pollinated
or self-more ofter the variation is sturdiness, bloom date, branchiing......
Cheers

temperatures in Northwest Virginia
