more on Roundup

Hi everyone,
The discussion on Roundup has been helpful. To follow up: I
sprayed the irises thoroughly, as if I were really trying to get rid of
them. They were sprayed right after bloom, when I knew I would not be
keeping them.
As Bob says, weeding is relentless. Especially this year, with
all the rain we've had. Also, I have stopped mulching to help control
fungus problems. I'm in that in-between stage: bigger than most home
gardens, too small to be commercial. Weeding is the main reason I don't
enlarge my iris beds, which I would otherwise like to do. I'm all in favor
of organic gardening, but since I'm already using chemicals for borers and
fungus, I may as well use some for weeding too.
         Ken
