RE: RE: Roundup and other herbicides

At least one sprayer manufacturer actually sells a shield for spraying that
attaches to the spray wand. I have a 2 gallon sprayer that is labeled
"Roundup" on the tank. It comes with a foaming nozzle. The foaming nozzle is
far superior from a control standpoint to the regular brass cone nozzle. I
purchased the "Roundup" sprayer at Lowe's.

When I tried to get bind weed out of the pool planting area, I unwound the
bind weed so I had a handful or so free of desirable plants. I put a
throwaway pie pan half filled with 6 oz/gal Roundup next to the loosened
bindweed. I then put the loosened bind weed in the Roundup and put a brick
on top. After 30 minutes or so, I moved the Roundup pie pan to the next
batch of loosened bind weed. I did not have a potential problem with animals
or wildlife drinking the Roundup. If that had been a problem, I would have
but a plastic milk crate over the pie pan.

Hey group,
A few tricks to better control where your herbicide goes and minimize
overspray.
Cut the bottom out of a gallon milk jug or bleach bottle. Stick the spray
nozzle in through the top about two inches in and attach. This is the
perfect application for duct tape. Place the jug just above the offensive
weeds and spray away. This makes a shield so you can spray right next to the
good plant without dousing it.
Another trick for spot non-spray applications is to apply the herbicide with
a paint brush. Or use a paint roller with a cheap foam roller on it and just
roll it if you have a little larger area.
Put a latex or rubber glove on and then a cotton glove over that. Stick the
cotton glove into the herbicide and then swipe or rub your hand through the
offensive weeds.
