more on roundup other herbicides

There was a post to the peony groups a while back that reported using
Round-up on weeds in peony beds after the peonies had gone dormant and
been cut back. The following spring all the peonies showed the weak
growth a not quite killed shrub or plant may show after the use of
Round-up. The damage was confirmed at gypsophate (sp?) damage from
someone from the local university.

Also, a while back someone on a daylily forum, someone with a Ph.D. in
chemistry, had investigated the inert ingredients in Preen and found
from the manufacturer that there were carcinogenic elements.

Sorry to be vague in the who and what but am reaching back in my
memory. I use both products but am much more respectful of them now and
use them more judiciously -- in fact am trying the vinegar and the corn
gluten products, with less good results so far.
