{Disarmed} Very Short Late-Blooming Siberians

Hi all,

I've had a number of Siberians blooming recently (a good bit after normal bloom here) where the bloom stalk is only 2-3 inches high with a single flower (the flower appears normal in all respects except that the stalk is extremely short). In every instance so far these are clumps that bloomed normally earlier in the spring and then threw up a short stalk about a month later. (This same thing just happened with my one Denver-winter-hardy Pacific Coast Iris clump, 'Wild Survivor', also.) In one instance, 'Crimson Cloissone' - a new siberian planted last fall, the clump threw up a short stalk like this very early in mid-April (blooming before any of my dwarf bearded iris even), then sent up two normal bloom stalks, and then recently sent up another short stalk. Is this something others have experienced? Any ideas what may be causing this?

Best Regards,
