{Disarmed} Re: Companion Plants for Siberians

Dear Arthur,
I have a very unusual situation. In the very back corner of my yard, I have a swamp which is spring fed and there is a stream behind the swamp. The swamp is not really wet wet, but is never dry. I did have a large weeping willow tree in the swamp which kept the area dryer. It was about 3 - 4 feet across, but in 1993 we had an ice storm which caused every branch of the large tree to split. The tree lived but was not as prosperous as before. In 2003 we had a second ice storm which caused the city of Lexington to be without power for over a week. Trees were down all over the city & the branches of my large tree fell. I used these large branches to make 2 iris beds, one on each side of this tree trunk. I planted irises on both sides of these tree limbs in the swamp. I planted Siberian Irises, Louisiana Irises,Japanese Irises and Day Lilies along the windy willow limbs. This makes for a long period of bloom. And I don't have to water them even in this drought. The fiirst bed of irises & daylilies have lived in this situation since 2004 and this year I put in the second garden.
