Janet Smith, Chair of the AIS Slides/Digital Committee is putting together a new program on AIS Awards. She is including descriptions of all the Awards and pics and a short write up on who they were named for as well as pics of the recent winners. It is really outstanding!

There are some holes to fill however and one is a picture of F. Cleveland Morgan

MORGAN-WOOD
MEDAL (SIB)

This medal is restricted to Siberian (SIB) irises. It is named in honor of F. Cleveland Morgan and Ira E. Wood.

This award was instituted in 1951 renamed the Morgan-Wood Medal in 1961.

(1882-1962) (no photo)

F. Cleveland Morgan was a pioneer Canadian breeder of Siberian irises and a founding member of AIS.

Some of his magnificent cultivars still enhance gardens around the globe.

I do not have all the old TSI issues- is his pic in any of them? Maybe an obit in 1962? Janet checked the AIS Bulletins and did not find a picture.

Please contact Janet at aisslides@irises.org if you can find a pic of Morgn. She can scan from a printed copy.We hate to leave his picture out of this important CD. We do have a good pic of Ira Wood.
