The rain covers are a simple 2 piece system using a one quart plastic cup friction fit onto a Ââ diameter steel rod. The inverted cups slide up and down on rods which are typically 4, 5 or 6 feet long. Use 5â or 6â if children are around. Cups may be found at Sherwin Williams, Walmart or others. Rods are âpencil rodâ available in 20â lengths at concrete foundation supply stores. Bring your own tape measure and ask to borrow their cutter. Grind the cut end if you wish.
So, two Ââ diameter holes, one 3/4â slit with a utility knife (not all the way thru) and assemble threading the rod, slit-hole first. Used to cover new crosses, they are an effective exercise in simplicity of purpose to assure dry pollen and cooler flowers.
