Re: [sibrob] popularity ballot
From: Ellen Gallagher <e_galla@moose.ncia.net>
Hello,
My favorite this year was:
Raspberry Rainbow (Fulton) - far and away my favorite...
The only hitch is it is planted in a garden that is impossible to
see from the house and I try to plant gardens that I can look
at when I am inside. Although, it is a treat when I go out to
work outside, to be surprised by blooms. I have 8 different
gardens on this property and three more in process (digging up)
so most of the time I will go for the surprise factor.
Second favorite was:
'Kamayama' - so tall and it loomed over my front garden like
a beacon which is what the seed pods are doing presently.
Third place was a four-way tie:
Jamaican Velvet
Moon Silk
Rosebud Melody
Seneca Blue Rose
These were all grown in my own garden and I used my own criteria
for deciding the top personal winners:
To wit, the performance and look in my garden which includes
the "grab" factor = does it stand up and grab me? Frankly, I
am so inamored by almost any Siberian that it doesn't take much
to grab me.
Yep. Call me an unsophisticated gardener but I have fun anyway.
Right now white phlox and daylilies and lilium are making me
very happy and they have my nod on a wonderful New England
day marred only by the tragedy that took place near Martha's
Vineyard this week-end.
