As Anna Mae has pointed out, Mr. Bush died last Oct.
R. Dennis Hager, who is a member of Sibrob, contributed a thoughtful piece
in memory of George C. Bush in the lastest TSI that arrived here
last week.

Finally, the Siberians might be going to bloom here soon - well, at least I.
typhifolia bloomed on June 10th and LITTLE BLUE SPARKLER
opened one bud yesterday, June 11th. It has been loaded with colored buds
but it has been too darn cold for much additional bloom.
This makes the longest peak SDB and MDB bloom I have ever seen and also the
most floriferousness. The prize goes to two SDBs for the longest bloom and
so many bloom stalks that I almost can't count that high. ;) ROSIE LULU and
LIME SMOOTHY have to be divided since those 2 two-year clumps are
threatening to take over the garden but I think SHAKER'S PRAYER has already
done that (altho' I wish it would bloom soon).
The next Siberian that we plan on seeing is SALAMANDER CROSSING which has
interesting colored buds. This is one I have been dying to see. This is its
first year but it has plenty of bloom stalks.
Photography is surely an art and good photos of flowers can be very
elusive..at least for me. LAVENDER FAIR, whose pic appears on the inside
front cover of the Spring 2000 issue of TSI, is far more beautiful and
stiking than the lovely flower that we see pictured here. At the Siberian
convention, we were treated to a non-juried show and LAVENDER FAIR was one
of the stars. It is a TDF iris = to die for iris. Gawjus as Walter Moores
would say.
Cheers,
Ellen (who bid and got LAVENDER STIPPLES at the auction at the convention
and forgot she had it in her front garden.....)
