starting to bloom....

We just have the early ones still - I. typhifolia, SNOW PRINCE, LITTLE
BLUE SPARKLER, SHAKER'S PRAYER (blooming at 49" tall) and INDY. But the good
news is we have about 30 in colored bud...I am looking forward to seeing
WELFENSCHATZ (I am too tired from weeding for 4 hours to go fetch the
checklist to check on spelling, sorry) and several others that I have never
seen in anybody's garden. All three
LAKE KEUKA have loads of bloom stalks.

Re those other irises, we are in peak IB season and MTBs are coming on
strong. Three historics (all BBs opened today - QUAKER LADY is still my fav.
From Phil Cook in Vermont, I have three I. cristata(s) and the
dark blue-violet (purple?) bloomed first followed by the alba and now
the gorgeous light blue (with lots of white) is in full bloom. The first TB
opened today, PROVENCAL and BALTIC STAR is partially open.

The season appears to be the norm here. Folks have talked about early and
shorter stalks but we seem to have 'suffered' the usual April and
May here - cold and rainy. Cold contributed to the long-lasting dwarf
bloom.

Good day here for fathers and also gardeners.
