The first bloom on I. typhifolia has opened up here in Zone 3.
two days ago and it has been so cold, the other colored buds
have not started to unfurl. The temps got down to 36 F degrees
last night. The SDBs are looking great and the MDBs are loving
the cold weather.
Bob, have you thought about using 'Lady Emma' who is the first
MTB to bloom here - the flower size looks bigger than any other
MTB I grow. She is in bloom now and the tallest stalk is 22" and
the first flower opened before we left for the convention which
is incredibly early here.
The first IB bloomed here 2 days ago (Rare Edition) and still
the only one.
