Thank you Ellen for the information regarding Currier McEwen. Sibrob members
in other parts of the country and those coming along recently may not be
aware of Dr. McEwen's long career. That a person continues productively and with
a vision of future until age 101 is in itself remarkable but it should be
noted that Dr. McEwen not only had a long and interesting horticultural career,
it was preceded by a long and distinguished medical career. Dr. McEwen was a
surgeon. I met him two times, both at New England events and was so impressed
by an innately modest man who carried on. One somehow believed he would always
be here. There are not many exceptional people in the news today, Currier
McEwen was an exceptional man.
