I only used its pollen but in my ill-fated fast attempt to cross
it with the beautiful 'Emily Anne'. I am trying Jeff's method
of inserting the anthers but I am finding that you really have
to be extra careful not to tear the flower.
The strangest/funniest thing happened at the talk I gave for the
garden club last night. One woman had brought in about 25 irises
that were blooming in her garden and I used them along with the
slide show for illustration. There were lots of Sibs as well as
bearded. I recognized almost all of the Sibs. immediately
(feeling this is strange).
After the talk, they had a Q & A period - and the person who
brought in the irises said that wished she could talk to the
person who planted them when she bought the house. I asked what
town she lived in, etc. thinking I could stop in and look at her
Sibs at least, etc. Well, guess what? She brought in MY flowers
that I had planted years ago!
We had sold the house in Dec. to another family who sold it to
her two years ago.
Anyway, I going to her house and look at my seedlings (SDBs)
that I never saw in bloom and other things that I want to check
out like my Japanese and some 40 chrm. Sibs, etc.
