I live in Stanwood near Puget Sound on the border between zone 8a and
8b. For years my garden has been exclusively roses but because of the
lack of the color blue in my garden I decided to include irises also.
My first attempt was not very successful with bearded irises. The
reason for this is that I try to keep my garden soil around ph
6.3-6.5. I also use bark as a mulch. Bearded irises do not do very
well in this environment but it seems to be perfect for Siberians.
I am particularly interested in remontant varieties.
I would be interested in knowing which varieties would be most likely
to bloom more than once in my garden's environment. Also are there
any other iris types that might do well in my garden?
We live on 2.5 acres. Two gardens take up about half of this area.
At present we have around 700 roses and 40 irises.
Comments and suggestions would be appreciated.
