{Disarmed} Re: Flat form ?

4 cents worth to the Robin discussion on getting flat form from Japanese iris.
The species, I. ensata   has very droopy falls and very tall standards that seldom stand up straight.  Some clones have been selected for better form, but the flat form of some modern Japanese iris took much "selection" and is not a dominant genetic trait.  60 years ago (in the US), most Japanese iris were not popular and considered to look too much like a "wet kleenex on a stick".
